Guy De Tré (°28/10/1970) is Full professor at the Department of Telecommunications and Information Processing of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University. He is doctor in Applied Sciences of Ghent University and was a visiting researcher at the Université Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France and visiting professor at the ICS PAS / SRI PAS / IBBE PAS of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland. He is head of the Database, Document, and Content Management (DDCM) research group of Ghent University.
His research has been awarded with 5 best paper awards at international conferences and the 40th Anniversary medal of the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was 17 times keynote speaker at international conferences and gave 9 invited lectures at international universities and scientific institutions (other than Ghent University).
He is author of the book ‘Principes van databases’ (Dutch) published by Pearson Education Benelux.
He is area editor of the ‘International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems’ and member of the editorial board of the international journals ‘Fuzzy Sets and Systems’, ‘Information Fusion’ and ‘Mathematics’.
He is board member of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT) and steering committee member of Flexible Querying Answering (FQAS). He was general co-chair of the international EUROFUSE Workshop on Data and Knowlege Engineering (September 2004, Warsaw, Poland), the international conference on Analogous Spaces (May 2008, Ghent, Belgium), the FQAS 2011 world conference (October 2011, Ghent, Belgium), the FQAS 2015 world conference (October 2015, Krakow, Poland), and the FQAS 2021 world conference (September 2021, Bratislava, Slovakia).
He has been the scientific coordinator of the post academic tracks on ‘Big Data’ and ‘Big Data hands-on’ of the Ghent University Academy for Engineers (UGain).
He is member of the Flemish Committee for Scientific Integrity.
